Cleveland, OH (April 28, 2021) – A motor vehicle accident reported in the Cleveland area on Sunday morning sent two people to area hospitals with injuries. At around 2 a.m., on April 25, emergency crews were called to the site of an officer-involved accident.

According to reports, during the early morning hours on Sunday, an officer with the Wellington Police Department was working an off-duty construction security job on Interstate 90 eastbound when his vehicle was struck by a second vehicle near Interstate 490.

The officer and the driver of the second vehicle were both injured in the accident. Both victims were transported to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the second vehicle was subsequently cited for OVI. At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
