Akron, OH (October 22, 2020) – One man lost his life after a vehicle collision in the Akron area on Monday afternoon. Just after 3 p.m., on October 19, the Akron Police Department responded to the site of a crash on South Arlington Street.
Reports from authorities show that 25-year-old Deontrey Simmons was driving north on South Arlington Street when his vehicle collided with a Dodge Charger near the intersection with Lovers Lane.
The impact of the crash sent the Charger over a curb. The Charger then collided with a pole and flipped over before crashing into a parked car. The impact of the crash sent the Hyundai 140-feet back down the road.
Simmons sustained critical injuries in the crash. He was rushed to Summa Health Akron City Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A 1-year-old girl in his vehicle was not injured.
The driver of the Charger was treated for minor injuries. At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
